A safe, family-friendly mountain town with seaside urban living — a small-town feel, walkable villages at Newport and Suter Brook, the Brewers Row craft-beer strip on Murray Street, and the water right at the end of the road.

Living in Port Moody offers a safe, family-friendly mountain town with seaside urban living. It's known for its small-town feel and tight-knit community — walkable hubs at Newport and Suter Brook Villages, the famous Brewers Row craft-beer scene on Murray Street, and nature as part of daily life: waterfront recreation at Rocky Point Park, hiking trails, and two lakes just up the road.
"Housing costs here are high. The popular parks get crowded in the summer. And the nightlife is quiet — a lot of businesses close early. I'd rather you hear that from me now than find out in your second month."
I've helped families across the Tri-Cities for over fifteen years. Ask me anything about a street, a school or a strata.
Book a call about Port Moody What's my home worth? →If you only have one afternoon in Port Moody, spend it on the water. Rocky Point for the pier and the rentals, Buntzen if you want the long loop, Sasamat if you want a beach.
HIROSHI'S PICKGet the fish and chips, walk the shoreline trail, come back for the ice cream. That's the afternoon.
HIROSHI'S PICKThis is the one to bring the dog to — there's an off-leash area and its own trail. And no power boats, so it stays quiet.
HIROSHI'S PICKLeave the dog at home for this one — dogs aren't permitted at Sasamat.
HIROSHI'S PICKThis is the Lower Mainland — you plan for rain. Port Moody's indoor circuit is compact, but it has the two things a wet Saturday actually needs, and the villages pick up the rest.
HIROSHI'S PICK
HIROSHI'S PICKBrewers Row is the closest thing the Tri-Cities has to a destination strip — and it's a five-minute walk from Moody Centre Station, which is why people end up staying for the evening.
Come early. A lot of businesses in Port Moody close earlier than you'd expect.
HIROSHI'S PICKTwo SkyTrain stations of its own — Moody Centre and Inlet Centre — and the West Coast Express runs from Moody Centre, with paid parking at the station.
HIROSHI'S PICKThe station parking is paid — worth factoring in if you're planning to drive-and-ride every day.
HIROSHI'S PICK| Home type | Benchmark | Average sold |

Port Moody is School District 43 — K–5, 6–8, 9–12 — and home to the district’s IB Diploma programme at Port Moody Secondary. Catchments go by your permanent home address; the district’s locator gives the official answer.
Every secondary and middle school below, plus the elementaries running a program worth choosing a street for. The full Port Moody directory, with addresses, is on the all-areas schools page.
Heritage Woods is the other one Tri-Cities families chase, alongside Charles Best in Coquitlam. It draws a very engaged parent community — part of the appeal, and worth knowing going in.

Catchment information is provided for convenience and is approximate; boundaries are set by School District 43 (Coquitlam) and change, and a catchment does not guarantee enrolment. My honest list: housing costs run high, the popular parks get busy through the summer, and the nightlife is quiet — a lot of businesses close early. If that's a trade you'd happily make, Port Moody is hard to beat.
Spray parks and an outdoor pool at Rocky Point, two swimming lakes, two ice rinks and indoor running tracks at the rec centre, and a library next door — it's built around getting kids outside.
SkyTrain from Moody Centre or Inlet Centre, or the West Coast Express from Moody Centre — $7.55 one way on stored value, $9.05 cash, with paid parking at the station. Under 35 minutes.
Buntzen has an off-leash area and its own dog trail. Sasamat doesn't allow dogs at all — worth knowing before you pack the car on a hot Saturday.
Tell me what yours needs to look like — school runs, commutes, weekend rituals — and I'll match it to the right pocket and the right home.
